St. John's Cemetery is consists of four sections. Cemetery 1-4. Currently, Cemtery 1 and Cemetery 4 are full.

Plot Details

Size

Each plot is 44in. wide and 96in. long.

Permissible Usage

A single plot can be used for the followng inturments:

  • One Traditional Burial.
  • Up to two Cremation Burials.
  • One Traditional Burial and one Cremation Burial (If the traditional burial occurs first).

Permissible Decorations

Gravestone / Monument / Headstone

Typically a single grave can have a gravestone that measures up to 42 inches in length. Foundations are required for gravestones and only cemetery staff is permitted to install foundations.


Decorations

Seasonal decorations that are tasteful and appropriate for a cemetery are permitted.

Decorations / mulch cannot extend more than 12 inches from the headstone (or 12 inches from the head of the grave if there is no gravestone).

Keep in mind the cemetery performs a Spring and Fall clean-up and all decorations are removed and disposed of. Be sure to remove decorations you wish to keep before the scheduled cleanup dates.

Rod iron decorations such as flag holders and/or potted plant hooks are not permitted.

Items deemed distasteful or not permitted by cemetery staff will be removed and disposed of, without notice.

 

Trees & Shubs

The planting of trees and/or shrubs is not permitted.

 

Veteran Flag Holders

Veteran flag holders are permitted.

If you need a veterans flag holder or replacement, contact the Berks County Veterans Affairs office.

Flags are placed, by volunteers, into all of the holders in Spring, typically a few days prior to Memorial Day. All flags are removed and send for proper disposal in the Fall, typically after Veterans Day.
